First and foremost, this is a book of
photos. Depending on who you talk to, this book would be described and
'wonderful' or 'atrocious'. One thing that cannot be denied is that this
is the best collection of true-to-life photos on the breed to date.
If you are a conservative-minded, suburban or
upper-class owner of these dogs 9and there are many of these), prepare to
be shocked. People and surroundings pictured in this book are not
conservative to any stretch of the imagination. They basically look like
bikers, rappers and people of generally lower socio-economic status. But
these people show genuine affection for their dogs. Viewpoints portrayed
in this book are most positive. Their dogs are not abused.
Text portion of this book contains interviews with
some of the most prominent figures in the world of APBT today, Colby,
Frank Rocca and Floyd Boudreaux to name a few. There is a section on
history and, only briefly, on conformation as well.
This is not a small book. It's pretty heavy and
substantial. If you ignore a few images from the front of the book and if
you are looking for images of some beautiful dogs, you will be left
breathless.
The text portion of the book is rather
concise. Many interviews are in point form. As mentioned above, this is,
after all, a book of beautiful pictures of our breed.
Recommended? For sure! This book will definitely be a
useful addition to any serious owner and student of the breed.
This is one of the shorter reviews. Picture tells a
thousand words. Grab this book. You'll know what I mean.
